1. Why shouldn't I use a sponge when washing my car?
Although sponges are very widely used by a lot of vehicle cleaning business, have a close look at your paint in direct light if you have been using a sponge to clean your car. See all those fine sractches and swirl marks? That's what's killing your shine!
Sponges trap small particles of dirt and grit in between the surface of the sponge and the vehicle's paint work. As you move the sponge around you are dragging those bits of grit across the clear coat of your paint creating more scratches every time you wash!
2. What should I use instead of a sponge to prevent damage to my paint?
The answer to this question is multipart, preventing grit and dirt from damaging your paint requires the right equipment, techniues and patience. The job will take longer but it will not damage your paint!
Immaculate always use a low powered rinse to remove loose dirt without blasting across the surface of your paint. Deep pile microfibre wash mitts are used instead of sponges, which lift the particles away from the paint safely. This must be combined with using separate buckets for clean and dirty water so as not to contaminate the mitt and is the only way to protect your paintwork properly.
3. Why shouldn't I use a rubber blade to dry my car, I've seen lots of valeters using them?
As with sponges, rubber blades are notorious for trapping small particles of dirt and dragging them along your paintwork, even after washing your car. They can also snag if they become too dry and can then cause scratches themselves. The same goes for traditional leathers. This is all bad news for your expensive paint work. It's far cheaper to clean your car properly than to have your paintwork corrected!
4. So how do I dry my car without using a rubber blade or a leather?
Immaculate always use a large microfibre towel that can hold a large amount of water. To avoid the risk of scratches, this is laid over the vehicle one step at a time, soaking up the water as you go, without ever having to drag it across the paint.
5. What is PH neutral shampoo?
Immaculate use only PH neutral shampoo,as any non PH formula shampoo
will strip off any polish, wax or sealant protection that has been applied to the vehicle.
6.Why are silicon products bad for my car?
Silicon products are widely used as a quick way of making your interior or exterior plastics and tyres look shiny, unfortunately all silicon products contain harsh solvents and petroleum distillates of some kind which will leave your plastics oily to the touch, will also attract dust which will stick and can degrade rubber tyres. Therefore Immaculate will only ever use quality non-silicon products on your vehicle for the best possible finish that will last.
